Even though the two computers are not on the same network
1. Run Directory Report on computer 1 with CRC on
2. Run Directory Report on computer 2 with CRC on
If the two files have the same CRC then the two files are identical
The Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is a function that processes each byte of a file
Any change, no matter how small, with produce a different CRC number
The CRC function is used by many programs, such as Zip, to verify files
The CRC is primarily used to Find and replace duplicate files
A multiple pass method quickly eliminates non-duplicates
This feature has been extensively tested on network drives containing over
450,000 files with 140 gig
